Past Flames

As some of you may or may not know, I started my blogging life as a commentator on usenet newsgroups. Many of these groups were religious in nature and dealt with cult abuse. I frankly wrote many a flame out. In the case of the one I am about to present, it was completely not justified. The target of my flame, a person named Jared, turned out to be a relatively well meaning sort. In any case, what follows is what happens when I start to take myself way too seriously...

Greetings Brethren!

I would really like to ‘thank’ all of the people who have SUDDENLY shown up to deprogram us. I had NO IDEA that the Catholics had an outreach program.

AGAIN, I have NO OBJECTION to the Catholic faith. At all. I am a Deist. I don’t come here to advocate it. I come here to talk about Armstrongism.

You and your tag team are starting to irk me. YOU CLEARLY ARE ADVOCATING SOMETHING. Moreover, you are crowding us out with your ‘Chatter’. You have used PIMP TACTICS at every turn. The happy patter about babies puking is really cute.

If you weren’t advocating something, then why do you have a website? And why are you suddenly here?

Douglas Becker has a pair of websites, but it’s pretty clear that he isn’t trying to form his own cult. If there is a human or spiritual organization that Douglas is ‘for’, he’s keeping it a close secret.

Maybe I’m overreacting. I’m not, but it is a remote possibility. Like GTA, I like to repent on a quarterly basis. That doesn’t mean I won’t sin again. Unlike you, I am not one of us. I am an outsider with only a passing experience with Armstrongism. I try to stay somewhat objective, BUT WHEN I SEE FREAKS LIKE YOU IT MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL.

In the end, I don’t know what the heck is in it for you guys. Armstrongists are generally in their 50s, usually destitute—and the ones you will find here are pretty much burnt out on the topic of spirituality. I have long advocated that the people here join either a Baptist or Catholic church. There have been no takers.

As I understand it, this forum functions as a ‘release valve’ for people who are involved in either the UCG or Church of the Greater God. I haven’t done a survey. Probably more than half of the members are still ‘in’. This may be the only place where these people get their say.

The MD itself performs pretty much the same function. It is a ‘Community Board’ for a largely factionalized and fractured community. It may be the only place that people can find out what is going on ‘over there’.

WHY ARE YOU HERE?

Jared, thus far you and your pals have acted like complete and total asses. You have assaulted the moderator and have sprung your website on us. That’s nice. Now go away.

If this was the first time this had happened, I might be backing off. Obviously, it is not. If you intend to ruin this board, you are going about it the right way.

This board is about Armstrogism, not Catholicism and NOT BABY PUKE chatter.

Moreover, this board is about the MD.

You are doing none of the above.
